    Abstract Submissions

    The program co-chairs of the 21st Annual New York Lung Cancers Symposium® are pleased to introduce the first Rising Stars, Fellow to Expert at the 2026 meeting to foster the career development of new physicians. Fellows are invited to submit abstracts to this year's conference, to be held November 14, 2026, at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York, NY. All accepted submissions will have the opportunity to participate in a poster reception. From the accepted submissions, 4 will be selected for live presentations before a panel of key opinion leaders and earn a $750 honorarium .

    All abstract submissions must be made electronically through the Survey Monkey link provided.

    Abstract Requirements

    Your text abstract should be a short description of your work and contain all the elements necessary to define your goals and results to the reader. The formal poster session is not designated for credit.

    Abstract Format

    Body Limit: 420 words (1 original table/figure is allowed)

    • The title of the abstract should be brief and objectively describe the study. Do not use nonstandard abbreviations and commercial names (use generic names only). Use title case and capitalize all nouns, verbs, adverbs, and conjunctions of 4 letters or more. Do not capitalize a coordinating conjunction, an article, or a preposition of 3 or fewer letters, except when it is the first or last word in a title. Keep letters lowercase if the lowercase letters have a specific meaning, such as pH or mL. Do not put a period at the end of the title.
    • Authors can be listed with institutional affiliations, cities, and countries only. Mailing addresses and academic degrees should not be mentioned in the author's list. For cooperative study groups, you may give the name of the group instead of individual institutional affiliations or include the name of the group in the title of the abstract.
    • First Author: 
      • The First Author must be a fellow.
      • The name, institution, and email address of the First Author are required.
      • The First Author will receive all future correspondence from Physicians' Education Resource®, LLC (PER®).
      • The First Author MUST be present for the Poster Reception scheduled for 5-6 pm on Saturday, November 14, to staff their poster.
      • Fellows whose abstracts are accepted for presentation will receive complimentary registration to NYL.
    • Only 1 original data table or figure is permitted in the body of the abstract.
    • Standard abbreviations in the body of the abstract may be used and must be spelled out and defined at the first use (put in parentheses immediately after the first mention of a term or phrase). Compounds should be mentioned with the generic name, in lowercase. Commercial names may be included in the abstract text in parentheses, directly following the generic name at first use. For example, "generic (Commercial).” Do not use trademark symbols.
    • Abstracts cannot be revised once submitted.
    • The abstract must be submitted in English.


    Submission Process

    • Follow the Survey Monkey link provided on the NYL website to submit your abstract and contact information. Deadline for submission is October 1, 2026.
    • Abstracts cannot be revised once submitted.
    • The review committee will evaluate the scientific quality of the submitted abstracts on the basis of the following criteria: novelty of the research, significance of the findings, and clarity. Incomplete abstracts will not be reviewed.
      • We are accepting Trial in Progress submissions and encore submissions.
    • Notification of acceptance or regret will be delivered via email to the first author of each poster abstract by October 19, 2026. Please note that the first author must be present during the poster reception.
    • The review committee will select 2 abstracts from each category to create a slide deck and give a 7-minute oral presentation to a panel of key opinion leaders during the Rising Stars session from 11:35 AM - 12:45 PM. The panel will provide feedback. One winner will be selected from these 4. 
      • NOTE:  All accepted poster presenters are invited to attend this invitation-only oral presentation session.
    • Prepare a visual abstract poster A0 size: 841 × 1189 mm and submit a PDF of this poster by October 30, 2026. PER® will print these posters. Fellows must arrive by 3 PM to set up their posters.


    Abstract Publication

    The presentation at NYL should reflect the submitted abstract, abstract title, authorship, and content.

    • With the permission of the first author, accepted, original abstracts at the NYL will be published after the conference as PubMed-indexed articles in the ONCOLOGY® journal. Previously presented (ie, encore) abstracts will not be published in Oncology; they will only be displayed in connection with the meeting (eg, online program).
    • The NYL organizers reserve the right not to publish abstracts that do not fit into any of the review categories, abstracts that inappropriately promote commercial interests, abstracts that are judged unethical, poorly written, or scientifically unsound, or abstracts considered inappropriate for publication for other reasons as determined by the Program Committee.


    Author Consent and Waiver of Claims

    Each abstract author agrees and certifies that he or she:

    • Waives any and all claims against PER®, sponsor of NYL, and any review arising out of or relating to the abstract submission and review process, including but not limited to peer review and the grading of abstracts.


    Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

    1. PER® will print an A0 size (841 × 1189 mm) poster as a retractable vinyl pull-up banner that the first author may take following the poster reception.
    2. Abstracts are accepted only for a poster presentation. Only 2 abstracts from each category will be chosen to give an oral presentation.
    3. All accepted original abstracts at NYL will be available in the online program and will be published after the conference in a supplement to ONCOLOGY®.
    4. Previously presented (encore) abstracts will not be published in ONCOLOGY®; they will only be displayed in connection with the meeting (eg, online program).
    5. Pharmaceutical industry authors are not allowed to present abstracts. Poster presentations are restricted to fellows.
    6. There is no embargo on abstracts.
    7. The space will become available to set up your poster 2 hours before the start of the poster reception.
